[1014% Surge in Virtual Asset-Related Complaints in South Korea by 2025]
According to Naver, the Financial Supervisory Service of South Korea released the '2025 Financial Complaints and Consultation Trends' report, which shows that financial complaints reached 128,400 cases in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 10.4%. Among them, virtual asset-related complaints skyrocketed from 403 cases in the second half of 2024 to 4,491 cases, marking a 1014% increase. These complaints primarily involved issues such as the failure to distribute exchange API activity rewards. The Financial Supervisory Service stated that it will establish a consumer protection regulatory system focused on proactive prevention and introduce generative artificial intelligence in the complaint dispute resolution process to enhance efficiency.
