He’s one of the greatest CEOs in the world, and now he’s stepping down to take on the role of Executive Chairman. Apple officially announced this morning that John Ternus will assume the role of CEO on September 1, while Tim Cook, who has served for 15 years, will step down. Cook joined Apple in 1998, where he managed the complex supply chain. In 2011, he took over as CEO from the company’s founder, Steve Jobs. The new successor, John Ternus, joined Apple’s product design team in 2001 and gradually rose to become Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering. In 2020, he took charge of iPhone hardware engineering. The end of an era and the beginning of a new one.
