[Amazon to Increase Investment in Anthropic by Up to $25 Billion, with Anthropic Committing to Over $100 Billion in AWS Spending Over the Next Decade] According to Deep Tide TechFlow on April 21, as reported by *Nikkei Asia*, Amazon announced plans to increase its investment in Claude's parent company, Anthropic, by up to $25 billion. Of this, $5 billion will be provided immediately, while the remaining $20 billion will be injected in phases based on the achievement of commercial milestones. Previously, Amazon had already invested a total of $8 billion in Anthropic, and upon completion of this round, the total investment will reach $33 billion. In return, Anthropic has committed to spending over $100 billion on Amazon Web Services (AWS) over the next ten years. Additionally, Anthropic plans to deploy approximately 1 gigawatt of computing power using Trainium2 and Trainium3 chips by the end of the year, with a long-term goal of reaching 5 gigawatts. Following the announcement, Amazon's stock price rose approximately 2.7% in after-hours trading. Notably, earlier this year, Amazon had already announced plans to invest up to $50 billion in OpenAI, signaling its strategy to simultaneously bet on multiple leading AI companies to strengthen its leadership in cloud infrastructure.
