The two sources stated that the NSA is utilizing Mythos, with one of them noting that the model is being used more extensively within the Department of Defense. It remains unclear how the NSA is employing Mythos, but other organizations with access to the model primarily use it to scan for exploitable security vulnerabilities within their own environments. Anthropic has restricted access to Mythos to approximately 40 organizations, citing its offensive cyber capabilities as being too dangerous for broader release.
