[Mong Kok Hotel Rape Case Dropped: Two Mainland Men Released After Over 5 Months in Custody, One Granted Legal Costs] Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on April 18, according to Sing Tao Headline, two mainland men holding Two-way Permits, Wang Baichuan (27, business consultant) and Xu Zilan (24, salesperson), were accused of raping a woman on November 4, 2025, at the Mong Kok RUI King Hotel (23 Tai Nan Street). Both were charged with one count of rape and had been in custody since mid-November 2025 for over five months. The case was brought to the West Kowloon Magistrates' Court today (April 18), where the prosecution's application to drop the charges was approved. One of the defendants applied for legal costs, which the prosecution opposed, arguing that the two had admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the victim and only provided their phone passwords for police investigation a month after being charged. The prosecution stated that they sought further legal advice before deciding to drop the charges. Acting Principal Magistrate Wong Nga-yan ruled that the defendants did not incriminate themselves and approved the legal costs. It was confirmed that the two individuals were previously employees of ME (formerly MetaEra) BD.
