[Regarding the Potential Second Round of Iran-U.S. Negotiations, Iranian Analysts Generally Believe Differences Still Exist]
Golden Finance reported on April 18, citing CCTV, that regarding the potential second round of Iran-U.S. negotiations, Iranian analysts generally believe that significant differences still exist between the two sides.
Firstly, although Iran's policy on the Strait of Hormuz issue has shown some flexibility, it can be observed from the above that the U.S. has not lifted its maritime blockade on Iran. This move may lead to new disagreements and conflicts between the two parties on this topic.
Secondly, the Iranian nuclear issue remains the focal point of contention between the two sides. Analysts pointed out that Iran's stance is to dilute highly enriched uranium domestically, while the U.S. prefers to have this enriched uranium transported out of Iran. Currently, it is unclear whether the two sides can reach an understanding or adopt a compromise on this matter, which will be a crucial factor in ensuring the continuation of the Iran-U.S. negotiation process.
Thirdly, whether the Lebanon-Israel ceasefire can be maintained remains uncertain. Iranian media reported that there are reports indicating that after Lebanon and Israel reached a temporary ceasefire agreement, southern Lebanon was attacked by Israeli drones. The Lebanese Ministry of Health stated that the attack resulted in one death and three injuries. Iran has repeatedly emphasized that a prerequisite for Iran-U.S. negotiations is that the ceasefire must include military actions against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Therefore, close attention is needed to see whether Israel, as one of the parties to the conflict, will attempt to undermine the Iran-U.S. negotiation process.
