A couple of days ago, Bitcoin developers submitted the BIP-361 proposal, planning to upgrade BTC to quantum-resistant levels. Wallets that don’t migrate to quantum-resistant addresses will eventually be frozen, including Satoshi Nakamoto’s holdings. Today, a whale from the Satoshi era, who held BTC for 16 years without moving it, suddenly emptied their entire holdings—totaling 3,500 BTC and cashing out $260 million. The BIP-361 proposal will likely face opposition from the Bitcoin community; otherwise, it might awaken more whales.
