French Minister: New Measures to Address Frequent Crypto Kidnapping Incidents to Be Introduced

Deep Tide TechFlow reports, on April 16, according to Cointelegraph, French Interior Ministry representative Jean-Didier Berger stated at Paris Blockchain Week that France is preparing to introduce new initiatives to protect cryptocurrency holders. He revealed that authorities have launched a prevention platform and attracted thousands of registrations, while also working with Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez to develop more rigorous response plans, expected to be implemented in the coming weeks. Against this backdrop, 41 crypto-related kidnapping cases occurred in France in 2026, averaging one every 2.5 days; globally, such "wrench attacks" increased by 75% year-on-year in 2025, with France being the most affected country worldwide, accounting for approximately 40% of Europe's total incidents.
