According to Golden Finance, on April 16, SoftBank Group agreed to pay its highest-ever interest rate for USD bonds, highlighting concerns over the Japanese conglomerate's massive investments in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector. As stated in the company's announcement, SoftBank Group issued $1.5 billion and €1.75 billion ($2.1 billion) in bonds on Wednesday, with part of the funds allocated to repay bridge loans related to its investment in the U.S. tech company OpenAI. Among the bonds issued, the 10-year USD bonds carry a coupon rate of 8.5%, marking a record high for the company's USD bond issuances, surpassing the previous peak set in October last year.
