I’ve heard the question, why not just use the normal government system to rebuild after Hurricane Melissa?
The truth is, that system wasn’t built for something this big or urgent. Too many delays, overlap, and slow coordination can happen.
We’re dealing with billions in funding and multiple partners, so we need one central body to move faster and get things done properly.
Other countries have done the same thing after major disasters. It’s about creating a system that is built specifically for recovery, so we can rebuild stronger, quicker, and more efficiently.(Andrew Holness)
