Claude Code desktop version got a major revamp, and the key update is support for multitasking. Previously, you could only do one thing in one window. Now, the sidebar manages all sessions, allowing you to group by project, filter by status, and automatically archive merged PRs. ⌘+; opens a side chat, and branch conversations won’t interfere with the main thread. It comes with a built-in terminal, file editor, diff viewer (optimized for large changesets), HTML/PDF preview, and even lets you run a local app server. The layout is fully customizable with drag-and-drop. A few handy details: three display modes (Verbose/Normal/Summary), real-time context window and session usage tracking, SSH support extended to Mac (previously Linux-only), and responsive streaming output. Available for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise users, with full coverage across desktop, VS Code, JetBrains, web version, and Slack integration. In other words, Claude Code has evolved from "an AI assistant in a terminal" to a complete development workstation. Multisession parallelism + built-in terminal + file editing + diff preview means you basically don’t need to switch out anymore.
