[Israel-Lebanon Washington Talks Conclude After Over Two Hours]
BlockBeats News, April 15: According to personnel from the Israeli Embassy in the U.S., the talks between Lebanon and Israel held in Washington have concluded after lasting more than two hours. Representatives from the Israeli and Lebanese governments held direct talks on April 14 in Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States.
It is reported that Israel and Lebanon do not have diplomatic relations, and this meeting marks the "first direct talks between non-military representatives of the two countries in decades." U.S. Secretary of State Rubio met with the Israeli and Lebanese delegations at the State Department on the same day and attended the talks held within the department.
The Israeli and Lebanese delegations were led by Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yehiel Leit and Lebanese Ambassador to the U.S. Nada Hamadeh Mouawad, respectively. U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea and State Department Advisor Michael Needham also participated in the talks.
