Amazon Leo took advantage of SpaceX's IPO preparations to come up with a solution that directly addresses the pain points of Starlink's business:
-Commercial scenario bottleneck: Skip the long cycle of C-end hardware popularization and directly enter the high passenger price civil aviation network by obtaining orders for 500 aircraft from top airlines such as Delta, prioritizing the realization of B-end commercial value.
-Direct connection to mobile terminals: spent $11.6 billion to acquire Apple's satellite service partner Globalstar. When Starlink was still limited by independent receiving antennas, Amazon directly extended its network reach to the vast iPhone and Apple Watch users through existing infrastructure. This transaction allows Amazon to seamlessly integrate into the highly advantageous Apple ecosystem, filling its strategic weakness of lacking a mobile entrance.
Compared to sticking to hardcore infrastructure, Amazon's solution is very practical: since they don't control the terminals themselves, they can use billions of dollars to directly connect the existing high net worth distribution network.
In the face of absolute terminal coverage advantages, simple technological barriers must also be re evaluated.
