[U.S. Treasury Seeks Access to Anthropic's Mythos Model to Identify System Vulnerabilities]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports, on April 14, according to an informed source, the U.S. Treasury's technology team is seeking access to Anthropic's Mythos artificial intelligence model to begin identifying system vulnerabilities. The source stated that U.S. Treasury Chief Information Officer Sam Kokos aims to secure access to the model as soon as possible, potentially as early as this week. Anthropic has so far only granted access to the model to a limited number of institutions.
The source revealed that Kokos introduced the technology to the Treasury's cybersecurity team last week and instructed them to prepare for the potential threats posed by powerful AI systems. U.S. Treasury Secretary Besant and Federal Reserve Chair Powell convened an emergency meeting with Wall Street leaders last week, expressing concerns that the Mythos model could usher in an era of heightened cybersecurity risks.
Anthropic has issued warnings that if companies fail to test their systems and establish defenses prior to widespread deployment, the model could potentially support cyberattacks. (Jin10)
