[Israel Continues Attacks on Lebanese Border Cities Ahead of Negotiations with Lebanon] BlockBeats News, April 14 — On Monday local time, Israeli forces launched a ground offensive on the southern Lebanese stronghold of Bint Jbeil, completing its encirclement and initiating clearing operations. An Israeli military officer stated that full operational control of the town would be achieved within days. Bint Jbeil is a strategic gateway to Hezbollah's stronghold and surrounding villages. A foreign security official stationed in Lebanon remarked that capturing the town would enable Israel to fully control the southeastern border zone of Lebanon. Israel has explicitly stated that its ultimate goal is to occupy southern Lebanon up to the Litani River, which is approximately 30 kilometers from the Israeli border. Meanwhile, the Israeli military reported intercepting over 10 Hezbollah drones and rockets. Hezbollah rockets struck a residential building in the northern Israeli city of Nahariya, causing minor casualties. The International Committee of the Red Cross reported that its center in Tyre, southern Lebanon, was attacked, resulting in one fatality. As military operations continue, the ambassadors of Lebanon and Israel to the United States are scheduled to hold a rare meeting in Washington on Tuesday, hosted by the U.S. ambassador to Lebanon. Lebanon's foreign minister stated that Beirut would use the meeting to seek a ceasefire and emphasized that this move effectively decouples the Lebanese issue from Iran's agenda. It is worth noting that both the United States and Israel have stated that military actions against Hezbollah are not covered under the U.S.-Iran ceasefire agreement, and the Lebanese battlefield remains independently active. Since last Wednesday's intense airstrikes on Beirut, which resulted in hundreds of casualties, Israel has not launched a new round of attacks on the Lebanese capital.
