[NVIDIA Denies Acquisition of PC Manufacturer]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on April 14, U.S. media outlet SemiAccurate reported that NVIDIA (NVDA.O) is in negotiations to acquire a major personal computer (PC) manufacturer. The media outlet stated that NVIDIA has been in talks for over a year, attempting to acquire a "large company" that could potentially "redefine the PC industry." While the target was not explicitly named, investors immediately pointed to Dell and HP—the world's second and third-largest PC manufacturers, holding 17% and 19% of the global market share, respectively. Shares of Dell (DELL.N) and HP (HPQ.N) surged on the rumors. However, an NVIDIA (NVDA.O) spokesperson denied after-hours that the company is in acquisition talks with any PC manufacturer.
