The perpetrator quickly established a romantic relationship by showing care and concern, then claimed to be a 'cryptocurrency investment expert.' Under the pretense of setting up an investment website account, the fraudster induced the victim to transfer 40,000 HKD as a handling fee. Police remind citizens to remain vigilant when engaging in online relationships and to pause and think carefully if the other party requests a transfer under any pretext.
