The perpetrator quickly established a romantic relationship by showing care and concern, then claimed to be a 'cryptocurrency investment expert.' Under the pretense of setting up an investment website account, the fraudster induced the victim to transfer 40,000 HKD as a handling fee. Subsequently, the victim was instructed to exchange cash for USDT at a physical exchange store in seven separate transactions and transfer the funds via an electronic wallet to the fraudster. Once the funds were received, the scammer disappeared, resulting in the victim losing over 2 million HKD in total.
