CME Bitcoin futures activity drops to a 14-month low, with institutional demand cooling significantly
According to The Block, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Bitcoin futures market continues to weaken. Data shows that as of March 2026, the average daily open interest (OI) has fallen below $8 billion.
By early April, it further dropped to around $7.2 billion, hitting its lowest point since February 2024 and marking the fifth consecutive month of decline. Meanwhile, March's monthly trading volume fell to $163 billion, nearly halving from its January 2025 peak.
