[Covenant AI Announces Exit from Bittensor Network, Accuses Network of Being Controlled by a Single Bittensor Co-Founder] Foresight News reports that Covenant AI has tweeted its decision to exit the Bittensor network. Its founder, Sam Dare, stated that over the past two years, the team completed the largest decentralized LLM pretraining in history (Covenant-72B) on Bittensor. However, the decentralization promised by Bittensor is severely inconsistent with its actual governance. Bittensor co-founder Jacob Steeves effectively controls the network, taking punitive actions against Covenant AI by suspending subnet emissions, removing community channel management rights, and unilaterally deprecating subnet infrastructure. These actions were not carried out through transparent decentralized governance but rather reflect individual will. The network's "decentralization" has become "centralized control under the guise of decentralization," making it impossible to continue building projects on this foundation. The team's models, research, and vision will be transferred elsewhere to continue development, with more information on new projects to be announced later.
