According to CoinDesk, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Department of Justice filed documents on Tuesday night requesting a federal court to block Arizona from taking enforcement actions against the prediction market platform Kalshi under state gambling laws. They argue that contracts on events like sports and elections fall under "swaps" as defined by the Commodity Exchange Act and should be regulated at the federal level rather than by state gambling regulations. However, Arizona and several other states insist that sports outcome contracts are no different from traditional gambling and should be subject to licensing, age restrictions, and consumer protection rules. Arizona has gone a step further by filing criminal charges against Kalshi under state gambling laws, with a hearing scheduled for April 13. The CFTC emphasized its "exclusive jurisdiction" over Designated Contract Markets (DCMs), warning that allowing states to enforce actions against federally regulated trading platforms could lead to regulatory fragmentation and disrupt the national market framework. https://(wublock123.com)/news/cftc-seeks-court-block-kalshi-enforcement-states-say-sports-betting-59315
