[Reuters: Israeli Military Kills Nephew of Lebanese Hezbollah Leader Qassem]
BlockBeats News, April 9 – According to Reuters, the Israeli military stated on Thursday that it killed the nephew of Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem during a nighttime raid on Beirut. The victim was not Naim Qassem himself.
Naim Qassem has held a key position in Hezbollah for over 30 years and officially became the new leader of Hezbollah in 2024. In 2024, with U.S. support, Israel and Hezbollah reached a ceasefire agreement, ending more than a year of fighting. However, Israel has continued to launch regular attacks on targets it identifies as belonging to Lebanese Hezbollah.
Since the assassination of former Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei, Hezbollah has launched attacks against Israel. Since then, Israel has caused the deaths of over 1,000 people in Lebanon.
