[White House Confirms Trump Has Considered Leaving NATO] According to Golden Finance, on April 9, the White House stated on Wednesday that Trump has considered withdrawing the United States from NATO and plans to discuss this issue during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte later that afternoon. White House Press Secretary Levitt said: 'Perhaps after this afternoon's meeting, you will hear directly from the President on this matter.' According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump has expressed frustration due to allies refusing to assist in securing the Strait of Hormuz, which led to the proposal of a potential withdrawal. Under a U.S. law enacted in 2023, the President cannot unilaterally withdraw the United States from NATO; such a decision requires approval from two-thirds of the Senate or joint legislation by both houses of Congress.
