Odaily Planet Daily reported that U.S. President Trump stated in an interview with ABC News on Wednesday that the United States might seek "joint venture" cooperation with Iran in the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the security of the strait. Previously, on Tuesday, Trump announced a two-week ceasefire agreement with Iran.
When asked whether Iran would be allowed to charge transit fees for ships passing through the strategic waterway, Trump said he was considering a joint venture approach to ensure the strait's security. Trump also stated that he would not allow Iran to retain any uranium enrichment capabilities and confirmed that U.S. troops stationed in the region would not withdraw but remain to enforce future agreements.
Trump mentioned that peace negotiations are expected to begin on Friday and progress quickly, while also acknowledging China's critical role in mediating with Iran. Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz would be possible through coordination with Iran's armed forces and consideration of technical limitations.
