Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN calls the Hormuz resolution 'flawed in terms of facts, law, and politics.'
Iran's Permanent UN Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani condemned the Security Council's draft resolution of the day as 'completely one-sided, biased, and baseless.'
Iravani told the Security Council: 'The resolution distorts the local realities, wrongly blaming Iran, the victim of aggression, while deliberately ignoring the root causes of the current crisis.'
He added that Iran's actions in the Strait of Hormuz were 'an exercise of Iran's inherent right to self-defense.'
Regional countries have condemned Iran for effectively blockading this Gulf waterway and continuing attacks on their territories, stating that such actions violate international law, including the freedom of maritime navigation.
