The decentralized chat app Bitchat has been removed from the China App Store. According to confirmation from Jack Dorsey, Apple, at the request of the Cyberspace Administration of China, has taken down the decentralized peer-to-peer chat app Bitchat from the China App Store. Apple stated that the app was found to violate Article 3 of the 'Provisions on the Security Assessment of Internet Information Services with Public Opinion Attributes or Social Mobilization Capabilities.' Due to its Bluetooth-based P2P anonymous communication architecture, Bitchat enables anonymous communication without the need for servers or accounts.
