[Two Federal Reserve Officials Warn of Severe Inflation Situation, 'It Could Even Get Worse'] Jin10 News, April 7 – As the Iran war drives up energy prices and the job market remains sluggish, Federal Reserve officials Harker and Goolsbee both believe inflation is a more serious issue than employment, suggesting they favor tighter rather than looser monetary policy. In an interview, the two were asked to use colors to assess the economic situation, ranging from 'red-hot urgency' to 'smooth sailing' green. Speaking about the inflation outlook, Goolsbee said: 'At least orange. The situation is not very optimistic.' He added, 'I was initially optimistic that we would get back on track to the 2% inflation target, but oh boy, things have taken a sharp turn for the worse recently.' Harker also expressed concern about inflation, noting that it has been above target for five consecutive years and has been 'basically flat' over the past two years. 'Right now, it's definitely a brighter, more vivid orange,' she said. As for employment, Harker stated she is optimistic about the outlook, perhaps rating it as yellow-green. Goolsbee, on the other hand, rated the labor market as 'yellow.'
