[US Media: Mediators Between the US and Iran Make Final Effort for a 45-Day Ceasefire]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on April 6, citing the AXIOS website, four sources familiar with the negotiations from the US, Israel, and the region revealed that the US, Iran, and a group of regional mediators are discussing the terms of a potential 45-day ceasefire agreement, which could potentially bring an end to this war. The sources stated that the likelihood of reaching a partial agreement within the next 48 hours is low, but this final effort represents the only chance to prevent a dramatic escalation of the conflict.
The 10-day deadline set by President Trump for Iran was originally scheduled to expire on Monday night. However, on Sunday, Trump extended the deadline by 20 hours and announced the new cutoff time on his social media platform "Truth Social": Tuesday at 8 PM Eastern Time. On Sunday, Trump told AXIOS that the US is engaged in "intensive negotiations" with Iran and mentioned that an agreement could be reached before his Tuesday deadline.
