[Anthropic Announces Ban on User 'Free Riding' Subscriptions, OpenClaw's Use of Claude to Shift to Pay-As-You-Go or API Access]
Odaily Planet Daily News: The parent company behind Claude, Anthropic, announced that starting from 3:00 AM Beijing time on April 5, it will no longer allow users to invoke the Claude model through subscription quotas in third-party tools. AI Agent tools, including OpenClaw, will transition to a pay-as-you-go model. Related usage will require API access or additional paid quotas. Claude Code CEO Boris Cherny stated, 'We have been working hard to meet the growing demand for Claude, but subscriptions were not designed for this usage model in third-party tools. Capacity is a resource that is carefully managed by the company, with priority given to customers using our products and APIs.' This move aims to 'consciously manage growth and ensure the long-term sustainability of our services.'
