If you run an Ethereum node, you've dealt with slow eth_getLogs queries. Once they span hundreds of thousands of blocks, response times spike. Many timeout entirely. Nethermind shipped Log Index to fix it at the client level. Median query time: 32s → 219ms across 12K requests. Gnosis runs it in production. One flag, ~30 GB storage.
