[China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Issues Risk Alert on Timely Updating Specific iOS Versions to Prevent Exploitation of Vulnerabilities]
BlockBeats News, April 3 – The Network Security Threat and Vulnerability Information Sharing Platform (NVDB) of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has detected that attackers are using vulnerability exploitation tools targeting Apple terminal products to carry out cyberattacks, which can result in severe consequences such as information theft and system control. The affected range includes Apple terminal products such as iPhones and iPads running iOS versions 13.0 to 17.2.1.
Attackers use methods such as phishing via SMS, email, or malicious websites to lure users into accessing web pages containing malicious code through the Safari browser. By exploiting security vulnerabilities in terminal devices, they implant remote control trojans into the victim's terminal products, steal sensitive user information, gain the highest level of permissions, and take control.
Users of Apple terminal products are advised to conduct risk assessments and promptly address vulnerabilities by upgrading to newer versions and installing patches (refer to Apple's security update announcements: https://support.(apple.com)/zh-cn/100100). Pay attention to system update notifications and the latest security update announcements from Apple, upgrade to the latest secure versions in a timely manner, enhance security awareness, avoid clicking on unknown links, and guard against cyberattack risks.
