DefiLlama: Hackers Stole $169 Million from 34 DeFi Protocols in Q1

According to a report by Jinse Finance on April 3, data from DefiLlama shows that in the first quarter of 2026, cryptocurrency hackers stole over $169 million worth of cryptocurrency from 34 decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, marking a significant decrease compared to the same period last year.
The data reveals that the largest security breach of the quarter occurred in January, involving a $40 million private key leak from StepFinance. This was followed by a smart contract manipulation incident that resulted in the theft of $26.4 million worth of Ether. On January 8, Truebit experienced a major security breach. The third-largest security breach occurred on March 21, involving a private key leak targeting stablecoin issuer ResolvLabs.
