According to Iran's official news agency IRNA, Iran and Oman are drafting an agreement to monitor transit traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian official Kazem Gharibabadi stated: The oil tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz should be supervised and coordinated by both countries. Of course, these measures do not imply restrictions but are aimed at facilitating and ensuring safe passage, as well as providing better services for ships navigating this route—even during peacetime.
Previously, in an interview with Sputnik, Kazem Gharibabadi also mentioned that Iran plans to impose transit fees on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
