Oracle sent an email early this morning announcing layoffs of over 30,000 people. This massive round of layoffs is directly and strongly related to AI. AI is having a huge impact on many industries, especially programmers, short drama actors, voice-over artists, and others. A friend of mine works in IT, and most of the coding tasks are now handled using AI tools. His main job is to clearly and completely communicate requirements to AI. His company is currently encouraging employees to use AI, and layoffs have gradually started as well.
