The US stock market just made history. The NYSE Tick Index spiked to 2,329 during Tuesday’s trading session, the highest on record. The indicator tracks the difference between the number of stocks moving up and the number of stocks moving down on the NYSE throughout the trading day. Nearly every single stock on the exchange was rising at the same time. This exceeds the previous record of ~2,200 set in April 2025, following the rally after President Trump paused tariffs. By comparison, the March low was just 650 stocks. Furthermore, more than 75% of names in the S&P 500 ended the session higher.
