Odaily Planet Daily News – On March 31, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the decision to restore the use of the short-video social media platform TikTok on government electronic devices. On the same day, Mamdani posted on the social media platform, saying: "TikTok, we're back."
According to the Associated Press, a memo provided by the New York City Mayor's Office indicates that the city government will allow various departments to publish content on the social media platform. This policy adjustment aims to expand the scope of information dissemination by the New York City government.
The memo states, "We hope to open new channels for communication with the public and help deliver the information needed by New York City residents." At the same time, the memo requires that official accounts operated by various departments must adhere to a series of security precautions, including using dedicated devices without sensitive data and assigning specific personnel to manage the accounts.
