According to Bloomberg, the EU is pushing to further centralize the regulatory authority over major crypto institutions under the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), a move publicly opposed by Malta. As one of the first jurisdictions in Europe to establish a regulatory framework for crypto assets, Malta, known as the 'Blockchain Island,' has attracted platforms like Cryptocom and Gemini. If the proposal advances through the EU Council and Parliament this summer, Malta may have to hand over direct regulatory authority of leading crypto institutions to ESMA. https://(wublock123.com)/news/news-58944
