Our economy remains strong and stable. Unemployment is at a record low, inflation is within our target range, our international reserves are at record highs, and our currency remains stable.
Following Hurricane Melissa, all major international credit rating agencies reaffirmed Jamaica’s standing, and Moody’s issued a historic upgrade. This reflects confidence not only in our economic performance, but also in our governance and our ability to respond to challenges.
Because of this credibility, we secured over US$6 billion in reconstruction financing and moved quickly to restore critical services, including electricity to over 99% of customers within weeks.
These outcomes reflect years of disciplined management and have strengthened Jamaica’s capacity to respond to challenges, support livelihoods, and sustain steady progress.(Andrew Holness)
