Google just moved its post-quantum cryptography deadline to 2029. Six years ahead of government targets.
They didn't publish the full research. Just the "zero knowledge proof" version. Think about why. As otherwise Bitcoin would be screwed today probably.
A typical counter: "This threatens ALL encryption: your bank, your emails, military systems, every TLS handshake on the internet."
True, BUT here's the difference nobody talks about:
Banks, governments, cloud providers... they're centralized. They can force-upgrade. Rate limit. Patch.
Bitcoin can't.
Bitcoin's real problem isn't the cryptography. It's governance AND Satoshi:
~1.1M BTC sitting in Satoshi's wallets. Unspendable? Forkable? Dumpable?
The quantum upgrade for Bitcoin will be the messiest, most politically toxic hard fork in crypto history. And I think, it will kill Bitcoin.
I exited all crypto positions in early 2025. I'm watching this from the sideline and waiting for either:
1) Quantum Computer killing Bitcoin
2) Michael Saylor imploding killing Bitcoin
Let's see what happens first.
Until then, there are far better risk/reward setups elsewhere...(Dr. Julian Hosp)
