[Pantheon Macroeconomics: ECB May Raise Rates Mid-Year While Keeping Room for Cuts] Deep Tide TechFlow reports, on March 31, according to Jintou Data, Claus Vistesen of Pantheon Macroeconomics stated in a report that the European Central Bank (ECB) may raise interest rates in the coming months. Overall inflation in the Eurozone rose to 2.5% in March and is expected to further increase in the short term, stabilizing between 2.5% and 3.0% this year and next year. Pantheon Macroeconomics predicts that the ECB will raise rates by 25 basis points each in June and July. Nevertheless, given weak economic performance, rate cuts will remain among the policy options. "We expect the ECB to attempt fine-tuning policy rates near the upper end of the neutral range (around 2.5%) in order to strike a balance between the risk of rising inflation and the risk of the economy slipping into recession."
