However, he failed to hand over the funds to his friend and instead squandered the money on illegal gambling websites. The victimized friend subsequently reported the incident to the police. While on the run, the man also engaged in money laundering for an investment fraud group, which defrauded victims of approximately $6.4 million over the course of more than a year.
