SEC Half Year Disclosure Proposal Submitted to White House for Review The White House is reviewing the semi annual corporate disclosure plan proposed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, indicating that the measure is approaching the stage of public release. According to a statement on the government website, the proposal was submitted to the White House Office of Management and Budget last Friday. After the White House review is completed, the committee can vote on whether to release the plan and solicit public opinion. Subsequently, the committee members will need to vote again to approve the final version before the rule can officially come into effect in a few months. Although the details of the plan are not yet clear, SEC Chairman Atkins has recently proposed adjusting the frequency of information disclosure based on the size of the company. After Trump called for a change in company disclosure frequency from quarterly to semi annual last year, the SEC has been pushing for this reform. Atkins promised to accelerate the implementation of the plan, stating that it could save businesses a lot of time and costs, but supporters of the existing disclosure system believe that information transparency helps investors make critical decisions.
