[Commerzbank: Japan and the U.S. May Jointly Intervene in the Yen, Favorable Conditions for a Strong Dollar] Odaily Planet Daily News - Thu Lan Nguyen of Commerzbank stated in a report that following the recent decline of the yen, the possibility of Japan and the U.S. jointly intervening in the foreign exchange market to boost the yen and suppress the dollar should not be ruled out. She noted that U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen had downplayed such intervention speculation back in January, but that was during a period of dollar weakness. The current strength of the dollar makes the conditions for coordinated intervention appear more favorable. The G7 meeting of central bank governors and energy and finance ministers held on Monday may provide a good opportunity for Japan's Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato to seek Yellen's support. (Jin10)
