[OpenClaw Releases v2026.3.28 with Default Enablement of OpenAI/Codex apply_patch]
According to Golden Finance, on March 29, the open-source AI agent tool OpenClaw released v2026.3.28. This version includes two breaking changes: the removal of the deprecated Qwen OAuth integration for portal.qwen.ai and the cessation of automatic migration for outdated configurations from two months ago, with excessively old legacy keys directly failing validation.
The new version also switches the built-in xAI provider to the Responses API, introduces first-class x_search functionality, adds MiniMax image-01 for image generation and image-to-image editing, supports asynchronous plugin requireApproval workflows, and defaults to enabling apply_patch for OpenAI and OpenAI Codex models.
Additionally, this update supplements Gemini CLI backend support and fixes issues such as Anthropic crash due to stop reasons, Gemini 3.1 alias resolution, and Codex image understanding.
