I don't know if Agent Payment can overturn the traditional advertising business model in the long run, but upon observation, at least the necessary infrastructure has been restored to some extent
1) Orchestra Layer: AP2
AP2 originally belonged to the payment extension part of Google's Agent to Agent interaction protocol. It decoupled itself from the payment process in terms of architecture, which means that whether it is encrypted native x402, enterprise level MPP, or traditional Visa, it can be seamlessly integrated to complete settlement.
2) Protocol Layer: x402+MPP
X402: As a minimalist protocol layer solution, it reactivates the HTTP 402 (Payment Required) status code. Agents can respond by signing with stablecoins on the chain, without accounts or SDKs, and can be accessed with just a few lines of code, making them a natural destination for long tail APIs and micro payment scenarios.
MPP: Perfectly fills the gap on the enterprise side. It aggregates micro payments through a session model, connecting and integrating Fiat fiat currency with encrypted assets, and directly inheriting Stripe's compliance system and large-scale merchant system, providing better prerequisites for cold start of on chain payments.
It should be emphasized that the two are not zero sum games, but precise division of labor for different ecosystems. One serves the long tail market that is native to encryption, while the other serves enterprise level procurement that requires SOC 2 certification and invoice compliance;
3) Trust Layer: ERC-8004
Payment can run smoothly, but why should an agent trust another agent? ERC-8004 has established three on chain registers on Ethereum, namely identity, reputation, and verification, and automatically updates the resume upon completion of each task. This not only solves the trust problem in a decentralized environment, but also enables infrastructure such as Crypto native public chains to find a truly valuable ecosystem in the grand narrative of AI agents.
4) Commercial Layer: ACP+ERC-8183
After the payment process is completed and trust is established, the final stage of the closed loop lies in business execution and settlement. So ACP and ERC-8183 appeared successively.
ACP: Traditional Business Side, led by Stripe and OpenAI, responsible for the business workflow on the Web2 side, covering the entire chain from product discovery, shopping cart to checkout. Virtuals has also launched the ACP protocol with the same name on the Crypto commercial side, doing similar things and can be considered as a Crypto special edition of the ACP commercial protocol;
The positioning of ERC-8183 is very clear, introducing job primitives to become the business execution layer of the on chain ecosystem. The client locks the funds, the executor completes the task, the evaluator judges the result, and the smart contract is automatically released. From then on, "agency employment agency" has gained on chain certainty, disputes do not require manual intervention, reputation data is synchronized back to ERC-8004 records, providing the possibility for large-scale commercial transaction precipitation.
