The US government spends $140 billion per year in interest payments to cover the debt of all the foreign aid we have given away since 1946. The US government has given away over $4 trillion in foreign aid since WW2. All of it was financed with debt. $4 trillion of our total $39 trillion in national debt was foreign aid given to other countries. And most of that foreign aid ends up in the pockets of dictators or NGOs or "non-profits". Very little of it actually goes for the advertised purpose. As you pay your taxes this year, just be aware how much of that money is just completely wasted by politicians. The visual below was only thru 2021.
