[Circle Unfreezes One of the 16 Blacklisted USDC Wallets] Odaily Planet Daily reports that on-chain investigator ZachXBT posted on the X platform stating that Circle has unfrozen one of the previously frozen 16 wallets. The wallet is associated with (Goated.com) and has the address 0x61f...e543, currently holding 130,966 USDC. ZachXBT mentioned that more affected wallets are expected to be restored soon. Previously, Circle had frozen the USDC balances in 16 hot wallets associated with multiple unrelated entities. ZachXBT claimed that the freeze is related to an undisclosed U.S. civil case and criticized the case for being sealed and providing no justification for the freeze, calling it one of the most unreasonable freezing actions he has encountered in his over five years of investigative work. MetaMask security researcher Taylor Monahan also criticized on the X platform, stating that this is not the first time Circle has conducted improper freezes and highlighted the lack of accountability and recourse mechanisms. Circle has yet to publicly comment on the affected wallets or the legal basis for the freeze.
