The House had included community bank deregulation provisions in the housing bill it passed in February this year, but the housing bill passed by the Senate this month did not include these provisions. House Republicans stated that the Senate's housing bill still has multiple issues that need to be addressed, and simply adding the banking provisions to the cryptocurrency legislation is not enough to persuade them to accept the Senate's version of the housing bill. Senior member of the House Financial Services Committee Rep. Andy Barr expressed support for including banking deregulation provisions in the cryptocurrency legislation but also demanded that the Senate incorporate parts of the House's housing proposals.
