[Russian Hacker Sentenced to 81 Months in Prison for Ransomware Attacks Causing Over $9 Million in Losses] Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on March 25, according to Decrypt, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana sentenced Russian citizen Aleksei Volkov to 81 months in prison and ordered him to pay approximately $9.2 million in restitution to victims, while also confiscating equipment used in his crimes. Volkov, 26, from Saint Petersburg, Russia, operated as an 'initial access broker,' specializing in infiltrating corporate networks and selling access to ransomware groups such as Yanluowang. These groups encrypted victims' data and demanded cryptocurrency ransoms, resulting in actual losses exceeding $9 million and intended losses of over $24 million.
