OIL SHOCK FUELS INFLATION RISK
Goldman Sachs warns the Iran conflict could reignite U.S. inflation via rising oil prices.
Brent is seen at $105 in March and $115 in April if supply is disrupted, with worst-case scenarios nearing record highs. A 10% oil increase could add 0.2 points to headline inflation.
Higher fertilizer and metal costs may also lift food prices ~1.5%.
Goldman now expects 3.1% inflation by end-2026 and sees a 30% recession risk, with rate cuts still likely but less certain if oil spikes further.(*Walter Bloomberg)
