According to DL News, Spanish and French police recently arrested a man in Spain suspected of being involved in the kidnapping of Ledger co-founder David Balland. Previously, the group had kidnapped Balland and his partner in central France in January 2025, severing one of his fingers in an attempt to force the transfer of approximately $11.5 million in Bitcoin. At the time, police rescued the hostages near the crime scene and arrested 10 individuals, while the last suspect fled to Spain. After frequently changing cities of residence, he was captured near Málaga. The Spanish court is proceeding with his extradition to France for trial under the EU arrest warrant mechanism.
